Good Story Villas
Art direction and photography for a complex of luxury villas in Bali.
01 · Task
The villas had just opened and started an Instagram with nothing but standard interior shots. The task was to skip the usual Bali-style content and show what it feels like to live in an unusual villa — a feed with its own style, worth following just for the images.
02 · Idea
Not the villa — the stay.
Most villa photography sells square metres: wide angles, empty rooms, perfect beds. This shoot follows a guest’s day instead — arrival, a slow morning, surf, the pool, an evening with records — so the viewer imagines staying there, not reading a floor plan.
- Faceless guestsFaces turned away or behind a book, so the viewer steps into the frame.
- One prop threadThe Uluwatu guide, the dark cup and the yellow board tie the day together.
- Warm, low light onlyEarly morning and late afternoon; no flat midday frames.
- Rooms through useAn unmade bed, a running shower, fruit on a lounger — details guests remember.
03 · The day
Twelve moments, shot as one guest’s day.

04 · Process
Before the shoot I built a shot list from references: frames the client had already approved, and new ones sent for sign-off. The day was planned around it.
